"dead at the control meets tapemosphere" Hinterconti Galerie/ Hamburg, 24.March 2006.-

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The tapeloopinstalation "Tapemosphere meets Dead at the Control" is a collaboration between the artists Béla Janssen and Block Barley.
The instalation was first presented at galery Hinterconti in Hamburg. A cylinder of nylonstrings, which where attached between ceilling and floor, formed the fragile frame. Within this frame 4 tapeloops were running around the nylonstrings, each one being played by manipulated taperecorders.
Three loops consisted of single elements of a composition produced by Block Barley:
1. A bassline
2. A drumbreak
3. A Synthline
The forth loop was equiped with two taperecorders, of whom the first one was connected to a microphon that the spectator could use to interact . The recorded microphonsignal became part of the loop and was played 40 seconds later by the second taperecorder of loop four. The fragile construction, always in slight motion from the rotating tapeloops, the interactive loop as well as the variations within the music, created by the differing tapelooplenghts, gave the instalation a fascinating life of its own.

Further instalations in Cologne, Zürich and Los Angeles are being planned for 2007
